The short film I edited for the Seattle 48 Hour Film Project (as well as helped write/direct) ended up winning an “Audience Choice” award.
Essentially we had 48 hours conceive, write, cast, film, edit, export and deliver a short film. It was an interesting experience. I was up 29 hours straight and was getting a little delirious towards the end while editing, but it more or less worked out.
2012 Requirements:
Character: Reginald or Regina Worthington, Banker
Prop: a traffic cone
Line: “Holy crap! Did that really just happen?”
Written, Directed, Edited and Performed by David Kennedy
-This video is dedicated to Pam… who taught me how to cook bacon, eggs, and toast when I was 12.
- It’s also dedicated to Clint… who said that I often come across too intense and make people uncomfortable…
- And lastly, it’s dedicated to anyone who has ever made a sports highlight video using the theme song from “Requiem for a Dream” or “O Fortuna”….
I decided to enter the Tacoma 72 hour Film festival. This was my first try at doing something like this. 30 different filmmakers had 72 hours to create a short film. Each film had the following requirements:
-Had to include someone blowing bubbles
-Had to include a fortune cookie
-One scene had to be at a museum
-Had to include the line “I feel like we’ve been here before”.
I do a lot of movies with Michael Bartley, but he had already agreed to star in a short film by his coworker, Jeff Alldridge. This was Jeff’s 4th year entering the competition and he intended to produce, write, direct and edit a short drama about a heist. That left me with nothing to do… so I convinced Mike to sign up as a second group. I figured since Mike’s priority would be dedicating his “72 hours” to acting in Jeff’s movie, I could stick around on the set and make a mockumentary about the creation of the heist movie. We planned the filming of our movie around Jeff’s….
I was also lucky enough to have local Seattle superstar comedian, Nick McCord, star as one of the main characters.
To understand the context of our short film (remembering fortune cookies, bubbles, museum and the line “I feel like I’ve been here before”, please first watch Jeff Alldridge’s 5 minute short film, “The Forgotten Heist”: (NOTE: I had nothing to do with the production of “The Forgotten Heist”. I made a small cameo, but it was entirely Jeff’s work and he deserves every bit of credit for it). To watch these in HD, click on the links below the videos.
Hello folks! Perhaps I’ve been slacking. My site was overrun with angry demon spam bots… a mutiny of sorts took place. The bots won the battle… but not the war. I stopped updating the page. My bad! Sorry about disappearing for the last… oh I dunno… year or so. There are a few videos and projects that I’ve worked on, but aren’t yet included on this main site. You can usually find these little projects on my youtube account: http://www.youtube.com/nedyken
I’ll update the rest of the site in the coming weeks, but feel free to check out my more recent videos that haven’t been included to the Nedyken Entertainment site:
… Feel free to check out the above videos. Your comments are always welcome. I went ahead and wiped out all the previous site comments (I had 300 thousand + and most of it was spam) and think I figured out what the issue was. For the time being you don’t have to register to leave comments… so be nice! Thx
